The Great Gatsby

Like many people I read this in high school and liked it but on re-reading this for the 100th anniversary(from https://standardebooks.org) it was far more impactful than I though it would be. Some things that felt far more relevant was the rise of the elite pseudoscience racism that the Buchanan's subscribed to and their ability to avoid all consequences for the actions they take with the current state of the American elite. The hollowness of Jay's relationships shown by his end hit surprisingly hard on this reading. If you have not read this in a while I would highly recommend re-reading this with the current events in mind.
